Part 3: Final Design

How it's Done.

1. Build your chair on a 1" = 1' scale

2. Create a box and pamphlet that goes along with the chair design.

Refined Elevation Drawings

Initially, imagined the chair to be the height of a stool with a metal-framed support on the bottom. I also had 7 foam balls spread along the outside of the chair for comfort. As you can see, I made several changes to my initial design to provide comfort and create a chair that anyone can look great in.

Pamphlet

Making the pamphlet was one of my favorite parts of this project. I have a passion for graphic design so this allowed to me to work on my skills while having a lot of fun. It also allowed me to show a bit of my personality with the pun on the 'About the Designer' page. One of my favorite parts of my pamphlet was the drawing of the chair on the front and back cover.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I really liked how my project turned out and it is likely one of my favorites so far. I really liked the window in my box and how the color and shape of the chair complemented the textile I chose. One thing that was disappointing to me was the finish of the balls, seat, and base. I really wanted them to have fabric rather than paint. However, it was nearly impossible to get fabric around the balls without having seams or lumps that made the balls look deformed. In this case, the paint was the best option, but it would be really cool to see the actual sized chair with fabric.
